According to the British "Daily Mail" reported on April 20th, Folkertsma and his team at the University of Twente researcher Geert Holland to get inspiration from the India leopard, by imitating the movement and storage of energy, creating a fast moving energy robot.

The robot weighs 2.5 kilograms, 30 centimeters long, 20 times lighter than the real India leopard, 4 times shorter, and it uses more energy than the India leopard more than 15%. Now, it can move 1 kilometers per hour, but Folkertsma says, "for a small robot, that's pretty fast."." The team chose to get inspiration from the leopard in India because of the agility of the India panther, a feature that a walking robot lacks. The key factor for the India leopard's ability to perform efficient exercise and fast running jumps is its spine. Therefore, the spine is the main difference between the India Panther robot and the existing walking robot. The India leopard can store a lot of energy in its muscles. As a result, the team put the selected spring on the robot's legs to achieve the effect of storing energy.

The research will help the future development of robots, help people in areas such as medical care and housework, and can also be used to build rehabilitation robots and advanced artificial limbs.

The India leopard is probably the fastest land animal you can think of, Folkertsma explains. "It uses its energy effectively.". His robot is not completely re create a real India leopard, just a look from the muscles and joints consisting of the skeleton, so that it can be as fast as the leopard in India, and hope to be applied to the future development of a robot. Robots are playing a more and more important role in our daily life, so we need to develop robots that can walk and move efficiently.
